This fall, I’m taking a much overdue risk with my fashion decisions. I’ve already told you about how I took a huge leap with these black over the knee boots, and it totally paid off. So I figured, why not take a risk on leather? (Oh yeah, because it’s EXPENSIVE. DUH ERIN.) So this week, I’m featuring a few tips on how to wear leather, especially if you’re a newbie and not sure you’re ready to take the plunge and spend the $$$ yet.
How to Wear Leather Tip #1
Don’t immediately invest in the $350 to die for leather jacket. I don’t care HOW BEAUTIFUL it is. There’s no worse feeling than dropping that kind of dough to realize that by the end of the season, you only wore it twice. Let’s invest in a less expensive option so you can figure out whether or not leather is your thing. Here are a few options I’ve rounded up, all of which are all affordable!
How to Wear Leather Tip #2
Find your fashionista bestie and BORROW HERS. Now, when I say borrow, I mean ask her if you can wear it one Friday night for date night or GNO. I don’t mean ask her to borrow it for the season – that would seriously be the end of your friendship (especially if it’s authentic leather). This way, you can get an idea of how to wear leather with your current wardrobe and see if it’s a trend you can get on board with. (Trend might be the wrong word; leather is ALWAYS in style.)
How to Wear Leather Tip #3
There ain’t no shame in the hand-me-down game! I got SO lucky with this vest (hence why the exact one isn’t linked unfortunately). My friend Megan, mother of two of my former students, has become a sweet friend and role-model for me. She is the ultimate fashion diva- literally I want to be her when I grown up! One weekend when I was housesitting for her, she left an entire rack of clothes for me to “shop” through. It was straight out of a movie. And guess what I obviously snagged? This leather vest! I had never purchased any leather outwear, but now that I know I love it, I’m ready to take this relationship to the next level 😉
Now I need YOUR HELP! I’m going to buy one of these two jackets. Which one?! Comment RIGHT or LEFT on this post to let me know!
